What Special Treat or Yummy Did Your Flock Get Today?

I tried to give mine some worms yesterday. The little ones (2 week old Lavender Orps) took to them right away. The 8 week old BR's looked at them and it was "Um.... ew, I don't do worms!" and all 5 juicy worms went about their wormy way. Today they got some yogurt with chopped strawberry ends and crushed blueberries. Probably will give the fuzzies a boiled egg later.

Jif extra crunchy peanut butter. It was a riot watching them get their beaks all covered in the PB, then rubbing them in the sand to get all nice and neat. Man, are they a blast to watch!

I just have to say that I'm so totally jealous of you gardeners that actually have harvested enough to share with your chickens. Here, in the northwest, our spring was sooo wet and cold that even the lettuce is struggling...and tomatoes?...forget about it. My chickens did get outer brussel sprout leaves and broccoli stems though. And I'm going to check to see if it's okay to give them carrot tops.

My girls are the pickiest eaters this side of the mississippi. They like meat, meat, and oh did I mention meat? They won't eat any sort of veggies except corn on rare occasions. Soooo...

I brought out a spoon of canned tuna, you woulda thought I was a worm myself! THEY WENT NUTS! loveeeed it and you should have heard the sounds they made! Nothing short of GROWLS! It was amazing and they got so excited they were jumping a few feet in the air to check the spoon for any leftovers. It was great.

Mine got a bunch of the darned Japanese Beetles that my daughter and I pick off our plants. We toss them into a shallow pail of water so they can't get away. Then we take them to the "girls" for a good game of "Bobbing for Beetles" They LOVE IT!!!!!

They also got left over corn on the cob that my daughter didn't eat for dinner. Loved it too.

This thread is hilarious! Glad I found it, as I was just on another where everyone was a bit worried by what they could or could not feed to chickens!
Today, my 10 girls and 1 loud boy (all hybrids) helped me weed the garden, so each got a few worms, grubs and slugs. Gardening is their favourite thing to do. They finished the porridge pot as usual, and fought off the 4 cats and 1 dog for possession of the leftover lunch crusts. Big Biddy, the cheeky one, got into the kitchen again when i forgot to put up the chicken gate on the front door. Was found standing in the dog food bowl, eating all around her.....
Other than that, they had the usual garden raiding and compost scratching to do - Today raspberries and blackcurrants, and some spinach.

2 fresh eggs cooked and chopped up and mixed with some cottage cheese, and I picked a little bunch of red currants and let them eat those.

We throw the beetles in the freezer for about 1/2 hour before treat time.

Yesterday was beetles, melon, and leftover rice.

I add a bit of water to get them defrosted but still cold, its their favorite! And nice cold/frozen treat when its hot outside.
