What Special Treat or Yummy Did Your Flock Get Today?

For breakfast I gave them a big feed scoop of 1/2 BOSS and 1/2 cracked corn. And I just walked down there with yesterday's scraps of eggplant "guts", strawberry tops, and some lettuce. I also picked some leaves from my strawberry bushes and some weeds from the garden before making it to the run. They all really enjoyed their treats today. I only wish I could free range them more than I can. Maybe I'll let them out tonight for a little while before bed.

My girlies got potato leaves - For some reason when they free range they head straight for the peas and potato plants?

Our baby chicks got egg and cabbage! They would have got Zuccini too but head Roo throw it out!!!!! AHHHHHH!

Oesdog - does anyone know if it is true you can;t give chickens onion or green pepper as it sours the eggs??????

So far today mine have had frozen and unfrozen watermelon rinds (everyone in the family has started saving their rinds for us), greens and egg shells. Later they'll get the rest of the pork trimmings.

My girls had yogurt with frozen blueberries in it and egg shells and a few Cheerios. Does anyone make something up ahead of time, like weekly that is specifically for their girls? I was thinking about making up a batch of brown rice or spaghetti just for them to have in the fridge for a treat when I needed something. Does anyone do this?

I just integrated my flock, and in order to tone down the chasing I gave grapes to each chicken. Munk and Joon just tore them up and ate the juices, Monica totally grubbed on them! She is my new girl and I am excited to have found a treat she enjoys!
