What Special Treat or Yummy Did Your Flock Get Today?

Today, mine got cucumbers sliced lengthways, lettuce & some left over mac & cheese! They about killed each other to get to that mac & cheese!

Mine LOVE watermelon!!! DW balls out the insides and we give them the halves, within in an hour there nothing left but a thin green outer rine, and they'd probably eat that too but I compost the rines.

My girls are crazy for shredded carrots & red delicious apples. I divide the apples, so each has a nice section to tear into.

I place a small bowl of layer mash out in the yard for them to find as they free-range. Each girl makes the cutest clucking noises when they discover this bowl.

Mine got blueberries (that's what we had for dessert!) and a bit of cooked, all-beef, caseless hot dog, probably no more than the length of somebody's thumb, between three POL pullets. Man, they went nuts for both! They also got dandelion greens, carrots (organically grown from my garden) and carrot greens, some dill flowers (again, organic from my garden) and some clover and purslane.

They went nuts for all of it except the carrot greens. It was totally chicken football when we tossed the blueberries in there! One for each hen, but one wound up getting two, and one got nothing at all

. Hubby will have to learn to give *more* berries than chickens!

Here is the ratio that I have used on their Treat mix

1 Cup Flax seed
3/4 cup Sunflower seeds
1/4 cup white rice
1 cup oats
2 cups cheerios
1 cup cornflakes

I am going to try a cup of the following Mix, and just spread it around for them to scratch.

What is BOSS? Mine had tomatoes, watermelon and crook neck squash . Along with their feed crumbles. I have two coops, one 8 wks old one 20 wks old? There are three!!!Cocks in one and i was so upset to discover there had been a battle of sorts ..two were severely pecked, wings head everywhere. One cock was unscathed. i do not know if that means he was not fighting or is the king ..I have seperated the other two with a round of chicken wite made into a circle and tied at the top to make their own temporary pens. THey are very mad. advice???

I had the same question about BOSS.

Today my 8 weeks olds got: some strawberries, raspberries and papaya (which they went nuts over)
