Yesterday our girls (plus one bantam roo and a turkey) enjoyed the skins and seeds of tomatoes I used to can tomato juice, cabbage core, grass clippings, stale Flat-Out bread, strawberry tops. We'll see what I can find for them tomorrow. Hubby set out a box of stale Cheerios. Wonder what the chickies will think of those.... ???

The nasty little snakes had a tummy full Savory. Not to mention the crack. I may just have to start them on rations.

My husband is very frugal and eats a small pack of Pringles with lunch each day. They come in plastic cups and he saves them. So, last night I took 3 of the cups and made a new chicken treat. I put frozen corn in one, cut up grapes in one and cut up cherries in the third. Then I filled the cups with water and froze. This morning I put the cherry cube in a bowl in their coop for the day. The girls stood far away from it and looked at it. But when I got home the dish was empty and totally dry. Since it's still hot and the girls were panting, I pulled out the corn cube and when they saw it, they flocked to it. Less than an hour later, the bowl is empty and dry and the girls seem very happy.

Until the weather breaks, my freezer with have people pops and chicken pops.

What's BOSS ? Sorry if that's a stupid question. I'm new to raising chickens. The only thing I've given my 3 month old chickens so far were watermelon rinds. Which they picked down to nothing at all ! I want to give them some cool new foods once in a while. How do you guys feed stuff to them, like table scraps? Do you have a "feed trough" kind of thing, or just throw it on the coop/run floor?

Not a stupid question at all ~ Black Oil Sunflower Seeds ~ great protein and oil source.

I usually just toss treats into the run and watch the fun begin! If it is something runny or liquid I put it in an old plastic tray leftover from take out food.
