Depends on food scarcity and what kind of disaster we're talking about. If we're getting nuked, I'm not eating glow pig or gamma chicken.

We have a small desert lizard. All he eats is lettuce or dandelions, so easiest pet ever. But without electricity to keep him warm or access to fresh produce...well...let's just say that there are no lizards native to Canada for a reason. Humane thing would be to end his suffering quickly.

My cat is the softest thing ever. She'd make a superb pair of mittens.

So here's a very important question. Would you keep your pets around? Or sacrifice them to the greater good in the name of survival?
I'd keep definitely keep them. I'd breed the chickens and raise the chicks for meat, but my pet chickens would be for eggs.
If I don't have my pets, then what's the point?
