So-called children's literature is brutal and scarring. And I include Bambi in that. Grimm's grim fairy tales ... after brutal twists and turns and the children either being eaten by the wolf or pushing the witch into the furnace, "they all lived happily ever after." Sweet dreams!

Yeah the originals I’ve heard don’t have the happy ending part and a lot more graphic I guess. Like the original Grimm brothers versions not the Disney ones hahah we used to read the ones with the talking animals I forget the name now

Yea like I recently started reading shakespere and I never realized how many people died like I knew romeo and Juliet committed suicide but most of their other friend/family died as well so I was kinda shocked
