They did! Shoot, with our countries huge deficit, there was no other way. Pretty sad that the greatest country in the world can't help its own people without the help of another country like China. Where at least half of our jobs went, by the way.
its going to all go back to them anyway!! can't go into any store and buy something that wasnt made in china!!!
EXACTLY! Why do you think they loaned us the money in the first place???
I didn't file for the 'stimulus' payment...I gave 24+ years,my left leg,my blood and my health to the US military for payment due for the price of freedom. All I ask is that the US federal government and the American People honor the agreement that we made when I swore to the oath, nearly forty years ago, to honor and defend the US constitution. So far, all y'all have been somewhat slovenly in honoring your side of the contract, although I've paid the price,in full, with pride and distinction, as per the terms of that contract.
Off the soap crate... BYC is a fine place to rant but is even better place to share positive thoughts, ideas and concepts. I consider myself daym lucky to be able to commiserate here!
All y'all take care!
We did not get our check that was to be deposited on May 9. I went to the IRS website and they had no info on us either.
I even pulled out my 2007 taxes and put my info on the calculator, and I'm supposed to get $1800. We'll see.
Someone heard that there was a glitch with the May 9 payments and that it is being worked on. But I could not find any information online about it.
Has anyone heard about this?

God Bless you and every other American Soldier out there who has and is serving our country and giving their blood to defend our great constitution. SHAME on the government for not honoring it. I shake the hand of every soldier I see and tell them thank you for serving our country. It is because of people like you, we can sleep safely in our beds at night and my children can play in the yard safely.
Off my soap box now... You all really don't want to get me started there and I am completely off topic.
BTW, my oldest son will be joining the military in just a couple of years.
The only thing that's gonna be stimulated is people's imaginations. Even if you get the largest amount, it's not gonna matter much...the one's who really need it are mostly likely gonna spend it on something they don't need...
We're stashing ours in the bank...for emergencies.
If I understand this right, the gov is giving us a refund on what they think we will pay next year in taxes (based on what we paid this year). That is why 17 yr olds don't get counted as part of the rebate.
So in our case, our family doesn't pay $1800 in taxes, so we will not get the full amount for $1200 a married couple and $600 for two kids.
If by chance we end up owing $1800 or more in taxes for 2008, the government will send us the difference. If we end up owing less than they thought, we get to keep the difference.
All in all it doesn't seem like a bad deal for the individual.
