That is call standard precautions. Universal precautions is fully suited gown, mask, eyeware, and gloves.

Is this a night? then most will get way less like $5-6 an hour but can usually sleep too. During the day at least min. wage I would say. Min wage here is $8.55 I believe. The norm here during the day is $10 average per hour for private care.

ETA: I am glad you got a job for some extra income and yeah use the gloves for sure.

This is daytime hours. She has her son at night, and his wife usually as well. Her husband is also there full time, but can't take care of her.

That is a bit low but it will help and better then nothing. Also I forgot to mention wash, wash, wash your hands....if you put gloves on when you take them off you still wash. I am sure you know this though but very important to do too.

Good luck at your new job!

I tip my hat to you, Cindiloo.

No job need last forever. But this day you show us your courage
as you accept this job, not as a job, but as a means to provide for
your family, yourself.

Spook

I was thinking $10,but $6 is decent if it is not taxed. You lose so much through taxes of all kind. They are lucky to have you.

It's certainly not an ideal situation, $6 is low pay, but that said, by doing this job you are helping out someone disadvantaged and you are helping your family as well. And one never knows what sorts of opportunities or meaning will be gleaned from even a small job like this. It could be that later she or her family become references for you to get a better job, that you learn a valuable or important new skill, find out information that helps you later in life, or even just appreciate your next job a lot more... Sometimes we have to look at the big picture and realize that, even if something seems inconvenient or unpleasant now, perhaps there's a reason it's happening in our lives. Keep your head up and be proud to do the job even though it's not exactly what you want for now. Set up boundaries of acceptable things you will do for that pay, but try to be cheerful and kind. I know you'll do a good job.
