Hi

This hasn’t happened yet but want to be prepared for when it does.

I have a lovely red silkie pair who are producing great fertile eggs. My question is what do I do if Mrs silkie goes broody?

Do I leave her in with Mr Silkie or do I need to move her? Will he be ok on his own if so?

Not sure what the done thing is here with there only being the 2 of them.

Thanks in advance

Leave him with her if you plan to let her set.
Make sure she is in a ground nest before she actually sets.
If she goes broody in a high nest just make a nest for her on the ground and block off the high nest. Wait to make sure she stays broody where you want her to and give her her most recently laid eggs.
Her mate will visit her quite often during her incubation I imagine.

Great thank you for that.
