What to do with the shavings and poo out of the coop

I was thinking I would put it between rows for mulch, then till it all in at the end of the year. Would it be too "hot" for that?

You know, honestly, I don't think it would be. There are a lot of shavings in the poo, so it's not like getting a truckload of green chicken manure delivered. It's also very water soluable nitrogen, so I think it would work it's way down into your root systems at a nice pace.

Just don't call me when your corn dies. ><

My chickens will call you, cuz it is "their" corn, and Purbil and Bob are already practicing ear-splitting crowing.

I add mine to an empty garden bed. Later I will turn it under a few times. I have put it directly on my blackberries. The berries did fine with no burn. But like the others said it is mostly shavings.

As for the wood shavings depcomposing, I have been using a pelletted corn cob. Found at my local farm store. I by the 40lbs bag from the horse bedding ilse instead of the little bag that they have in the chicken and rabbit ilse and the big bag is actually cheaper. Seems to be working great. I have been putting it in my compost b-4 adding to the garden.
