I’m so sorry to hear Tippie is gone, if she could have left you a note I think it would say “ thank you for making my time with you so wonderful”. You are a kind person ... I love that. So, I have a sad update for you all, I lost Tippie today. The good news is several days ago I got her outside into a Chicken Tractor and on grass for the first time in her life. This morning she came out at 6 am, had a good dust bath, and was pecking and trying to scratch at the ground when we left for morning chores. By the time we returned with Hay around noon she was gone, she looks to have passed fairly peacefully, she was laying down.
Many people would say I wasted a lot of time and effort on her, for only buying her four more months of life. But she got to be a real chicken, developed a taste for mealworms, and was finally able to be outside. She died on grass and sitting in the shade, looking out on a beautiful sunny day. I would like to think she was a happy chicken for the extra time I managed to steal for her.
Thank you all for your support in her recovery! We couldn’t have done it without your knowledge and help.
