I have two Chinese geese, approximately six months old. I am a new goose mom and I just moved into an area that is quite cold in the winter. I'm looking for ideas on what to feed them during the winter when they can't go out and get grass. Anybody have any ideas?

I have no idea but geese do have their preferences so the barley fodder must have been his. Mine sure do love romaine lettuce. My gander isn't much on grazing but my female sure likes too. Here in the mountains we don't have much grass our soil is so shallow and rocky so I have to buy greens even in summer for my flock.

I’m trying to provide quality nutrition while keeping feed costs as low as possible, for goose and chickens.
I soak/ferment the feed and add fish meal periodically and have started growing fodder.
I saw my goose chewing on a chunk of frozen fodder this morning.
Hopefully it is just a matter of him/her (Henry-Etta until I find out which) deciding it is what’s for dinner. Kinda like kids :)

Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for waterfowl feed/breeder rations for geese? I'm not aware of very many options that are available for purchase. I'd love to hear what brands other people buy! Thanks!

Also a question: I gave my pair of Sebastopols a bath today and noticed that the gander slurped up every loose feather he could find and even pulled a few off his mate! Any ideas what he might be missing in his diet? They get chopped hay (second cut) and a mix of wheat, oats, and corn. Maybe he just needs some roughage like lettuce?

Thanks!
