What to put coop on

It sounds like I am trying to convince you to do this.🤣 Trust me I am not. You guys do what you think is best. I was just throwing it out there and it is just something I know about.
No I understand what you’re saying! I think we’re going to end up just doing gravel that’s packed down into the ground. Around here we can get gravel pretty cheap with a dump trailer. We’re so close to having the coop done and then we got to start the run which shouldn’t be too difficult but i feel we need to get the coop positioned first before we do the run which sucks. But for right now we could always use our old run until the have the new one done. I really want to get this done so we can get new chicks for the spring lol.

Hey, it is a very good looking coop, too! I know you are proud of your hard work as you should be.

Thank you very much, it means a lot. Me and my bf have worked very hard on this coop and spent a lot of money building it… considering we are 19, it came out exactly how we wanted it! It’s definitely an upgrade from our last coop if i do say so myself 😂

My coop sits on PT skids which sit on concrete pavers - we have a lot of ground water/moisture so have to keep wood away from ground contact. It elevates it about 6" off the ground but a concrete block or two makes perfectly fine steps for both humans and chickens to access the inside.
We have a lot of ground water/moisture too that’s why i would like to stay away from setting it on wood.

Also another thing, if you or anyone else, can help me, how would you move it. It’s too big to put on any trailer we have at the house, and it pretty heavy. We can buy like 10in air wheels from the hardware store but i’m afraid they’re going to break off in the dirt.

How far does it have to go?

What are the measurements?
I don’t know the exact measurements but i would say 20-35 feet. The coop itself is probably about 1k pounds. We have to move it on a week that we don’t have any rain and the ground is hard, that’s if we use wheels.

So, you must not have a tractor or similar. So, one way you could do it is with some round post if you can get one under the front edge (the direction you are going) and push from the back and then add another as it moves and then another and so forth. You would probably need about 4. Then as it moves and one comes out the back you take it and place it back to the front. You just keep rolling and replacing the round post back to the front until you get there.

Does that make sense?
