scrambled eggs- it was cold here. And of course they always get "hot Breakfast" on cold days. Layer feed with very hot tap water and whole oats on top in the am. They love it!
A big loaf of stale french bread, an over ripe cantelope, trimmings from a stalk of brussels sprouts, 1/2 cucumber, and a big bunch of turnip greens from my garden. Tomorrow I will chop a big pumpkin in 1/2 and throw it in the run. They LOVE it!

Hello, I'm new to chickens (well, kind of) and I thought it was bad to feed the chickens beans? I'm not really sure. I went to this website once and it said that unless you do this thing to the beans it will be bad for them? I copied and pasted the paragraph:
Grain legumes such as peas and beans contain Trypsin inhibitors that not only reduce the availability of protein in the feed, but can also damage the birds pancreas causing chronic illthrift.
To use grain legumes you must first prepare beans or peas in such a way that you destroy the Trypsin inhibitors. This is usually done using heat keeping them at or above 180°F (82°C) for at least 15 minutes.
Maybe green beans are okay??? XC IF anyone else reads this comment and knows about this someway or another, please send me a message to end my confusion!!
