We had some beef/vegetable soup for lunch. It was out of the freezer last Friday, re-heated today and didn't want to save it again. I waited until almost dark, heated it up, threw in a handful of oatmeal and a handful of grits. It was the best chilly-day snack my girls ever had.

I dug a fire pit yesterday and peeled and cored some apples and wrapped them in tin foil with a bit of butter and threw them in the firepit on the coals. I left it like that long enough to run into town and pick my son up and when we got home I got it out of the fire pit and opened one and put it on a plate to cool off. My son goes, Wow mommy you made apples for me! Um yeah, our little chickies had to share with him but it worked out in the end. The chickies gobbled up the apples listening to my son sing Phineas and Ferb songs to them while he ate his apple!

Treats and a song, they love it!!! They also got mealworms I bought on my way to the pet store yesterday, I had to get ferret food any way and decide to splurge on them. Spoiled Rotten is what they are!!! Today I'm going to cut up pumpkin and let them peck at it all day while I try to sleep through the backing at me through the window. Silly chickens don't realize I work nights and need to sleep during the day, they think I should be out with them since I am home!

just be careful that your dog doesn't get the grapes or when they turn to raisens as in some dogs, they can be toxic.

Spaghetti and salad. They polished that off in record time. I have to grab the paper plate or they will eat that too.

Today, my 15 hens and 2 roosters got two bags full of organic lettuce leaves that I pulled off of the lettuce heads I harvested this morning (they get the dirty lower leaves; my human family gets the upper, clean leaves), plus they got several diced, organic tomatoes from my garden. I had to harvest the lettuce and tomatoes due to weather.

Late in the afternoon, my seven year old daughter fed them some BOSS -- one of the hens likes to eat it right out of her little hand.

Fresh ground 100% whole wheat bread! Twice my toddlers managed to grab themselves a hunk of break off the loaf, take two bites and leave it on the floor. Stinkers. Oh well, the chickens loved it.
