What treat did your chickies get today?

Today, my chickens got some grub.... literally!
After we got our first freeze a few day ago, I had cut down a bunch of dead okra plants from the garden, and this morning before going to work, I took out the chickens to the garden plot and started turning over the dirt with a shovel, and the chickens feasted on those white grubs... I think they are junebug grubs. They loved them. Its so funny how they got so eager every time I pushed the shovel into the dirt, and would sometime stand on top of the dirt as I was trying to lift it up. My 4 hens must have eaten at least 50 or more grubs this morning.
I think those grubs eat plant roots, so its a good thing I'm getting rid of them before I replant.

Today was a sliced apple, egg shells, roasted anaheim skins and seeds, a sliced banana, lettuce trim, and a big handful of mealworms and crickets. Trying to get some to everyone is a challenge. The polish roo can't see (he's getting a bang cut soon), and the dominant ladies always win. The more shy ladies i sneak stuff to while the others are busy but trying to get one over on 25 birds and 50 eyes watching. . .

Wow that's a lot. My chickens like the same things!

I so badly want to spoil my 3 girls, we are quite new to the chicken thing, we have had them for about a month now. No treats ( except mealworms) make them run. I have tried fresh fruit, boilled veggies, boiled oats, tomatoes, watermelon, meat, yoghurt you name it? I've read threads on here to see what you guys treat your chickies on and tried pretty much all of it!! Only the mealies stuck.

Should I keep on trying in the hope that they develop a taste for some of it or just accept that they don't like it?

I also want to treat them to something special that they realy like.... :-(
