What treat did your chickies get today?

Mine love fresh seeded bread. I went and got two loaves specially for them. My Buff Orp Molly chases me around the garden for it, she is such a carb junkie!

I made them a mash of their grower crumbles and cold water. It was like I sprinkled fairy dust on it or something. They went crazy over it and it is keeping with their regular diet and cheap! And they had as much as they wanted so no fighting for it.

Yes, they will!!!!! I grow bugs for my girls too. I still won't pick them up bare handed so I use blue medical gloves, when my girls see me in the blue gloves I swear the dance waiting for me to get to the coop.

My chicks got cooked yellow squash and mealy worms (dehydrated ones). Wow!!! I thought they would kill themselves jumping in the pan with each other to get the mealy worms with squash and worms a flying.

They are 8 weeks old. With this hot weather we have had I figure they can use the protein of the worms 53% and the water of the squash.

They thought so too.

My Red Stars seem to love wiping their booger faces on me.
My broody hen is getting a lot of good human food. Yesterday, I made her a special breakfast of oatmeal, raisins and flax seeds but she REALLY loves a good, slightly fermented grape.

The flock is also fond of a good, warm pancake when it's chilly out. Such pampered dinosaurs!!!

I was told to give chickens some milk to make sure that when they DO start laying, the egg shells are strong. Mine absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE some nice cold milk. Even the roo ! So mine got some milk in the morning, and some oats in the afternoon.

I fed my 3 RIR's some watermelon rind and sunflower seeds and oyster shells this morning. I love feeding them yogurt and green grapes. Funny though they won't touch the red grapes or apple skins. I always have laying mash in the coop that they can eat from all day. Is this enough for them?

It is great to see all the different things people give to their chickens for treats. My chickens haven't had a lot of treats, but they do not seem to like apple slices. Most everything else I have tried they have liked. I am going to try some nice cold milk and raisins later. They love raisins, and as it is quite hot today, they should appreciate the cold milk.
