What treat did your chickies get today?

My little blue d'uccle discovered the lemon balm today and called all her friends over, too. I'm pretty sure they ate their weight in the stuff.

Today they got about a third of the cantaloupe my boyfriend bought them from the mark-down rack. Maybe the rest tomorrow, as well as the zip bag of watermelon that's been in the crisper drawer a tad too long. They'll love that.

collards, sweet potato sprouts, leeks leaves, cucumber, oats, corn and some left over bread.

Bowtie pasta w/ragu sauce Kix cereal and a grasshopper I caught on the back deck. Later they will get white corn tortillas as a go back to the coop snack.

today they might get a watermelon rind, one of their favorites...a friend told me grapes are no good as this affects their egg laying...never heard of this before..have you? Otherwise grapes are their favorite so far...they come to me looking to see if I have any...(I have three vines in the yard, so it is also free treats).

Will try pumpkin in a month or so

Cherry tomatoes. They go gaga over them. They get scratch in the evening.

A peeled ripe banana sprinkled with crumbled egg shell and covered with about half a cup of Dannon plain yogurt. I am not cutting that watermelon til tomorrow! (they've had lots of that this summer)

Egg shells, bird seed and tomatoes! Made an apple pie tonight so in the am they will get the scraps from that. YUM

Ours got half of a pumpkin-their first one ever. DH put it out in the pen before he opened the pop door. Normally, they go running around the coop to the gate but he said they all made a beeline for that pumpkin and gathered 'round.

I wanted to try to give my girls a treat to get them used to me as they are a little skittish.... so I tried giving them a banana.... sheesh, they nearly mowed me down getting to it. I see treats are the way to their little hearts, lol.
