What treat did your chickies get today?

we have a mulberry tree. I dropped one into the cage of 8 chicks, 3 to 4 week old. it was like a football game one grabbed it and ran while others tried to take it from them. we do it still but after the laugh I throw in a hand full so they can enjoy. but the game still goes on because I have some greedy birds.

Apple!
My daughter made the mistake of taking her half eaten apple outside and the girls, we have six, ran right up to her. I laughed because If they could speak they would have said to my daughter......
The first one said, " You didn't want the other half of that did you?
Second one said, " Don't mind if I do!"
and of course, my favorite, the other four said, " About time, I am starving".......not one said thank you!

My poor daughter didn't think it was as funny as I did!

i am brand new to chickens. two months in. but am quite shocked to learn that chickens eat all of this stuff, in particular meat. so interesting.

i'm going to go home and find something to give my girls a treat.

Corn that my dad spilled from loading the wagons, watermelon shell (I scooped out the good stuff), and an apple (which I had to break open because they were too royal to do it themselves.

I have a mulberry tree over the chicken run. They ignore mulberries. But they shared a leftover Georgia peach. Not my peach, I never have any leftover peaches. Love em.

My 5 chicks will be 2 weeks old Sunday. Today I gave them a grasshopper I caught in my laundry room. Too funny. Every time it jumped, they would too, flapping their wings and peeping very loudly. The RIR finally got brave and has been making runs at it, but it's still alive. I know they'll eventually get it:)

Today mine had baked egg shells, peaches, plums, a little bread and some cheese which they went crazy for!!! First time I introduced them to cheese. Also did some weeding in the garden so they got all that :)
