oh no! haha lesson learned I suppose!I picked a cucumber and tomato for MY salad and placed them on the picnic table as I refilled water bowls. When I turned around the hens were devouring them. Good treat for them but I didn't have another ripened tomato for me!
I've been doing this too. Today it's blueberry ice.oh no! haha lesson learned I suppose!
I have been feeding mine chickencicles!
Every night I put some fruit, veggies, (whatever) into a bread pan about an inch high, cover with a little water and put it in my freezer. Then about 2 each afternoon when its 98 degrees outside, I pop it out for them and they get their chickencicles! I think they are beginning to expect it!
My girls are called the divas by my better half, since they are spoiled and expect their treats. Everyday they receive oatmeal with shelled sunflower seeds, as well as a slice of watermelon. I have also started a mealworm farm and I'm trying fodder.
I think my husband feels the same way! I go to the grocery store and buy watermelon - just for my girls! lol I'm always spoiling them with a variety of treats. When I come outside, they come running to me all excited. When hubby steps out, they run away! hahaha I'll have to read up on mealworms. Sounds like something interesting to get into. The dried mealworms at tractor supply are so expensive - considering the amount of birds I have to give snacks to!
