What treat did your chickies get today?

I like this idea. Maybe I'll start giving them my pots of weeds. lol I usually just rip the weeds out for the horses  but the chickens might appreciate it more since they get less greens than I'd like.

I've found it works well, I just let them strip the pot (usually in about an hour) and take it out to recover. I've got about five pots on rotation, although they also have a pen to forage in that's full of green stuff and bugs for them so I will be saving the pots for when they've stripped the plants in their run now...

I thought this was a great idea...chicken tether ball. What could be more fun? Thought I'd get some great video. Wrong! They hated the idea! Punk fuzzy butt chickens. BBQ warming!
that's to funny!! But I love the idea! Think I might try it. You were kidding about warming up the grill right?

Yes, I was kidding, it was far too early for the BBQ.

Actually, they're quite safe....cost me far too much to raise them to this point, being a first timer. Just the bill for the heat lamp put them far above my budget for a meal. I like to threaten them with the BBQ though, keeps them on their best behavior.

I gave my girls some very soft cherries and grapes and cut up a very soft peach. They were so funny going after the cherries as I tossed them in! I didn't think they would like the peach but after all the cherries were gone, I noticed the peach gone. :)

Hey I'm with you there, on the threats! Funny how it actually seams to work! I treat and talk to my chickens just like my children and I expect good behavior.

Unlike male dogs (and some men) you can't threaten a rooster with cutting it off if he doesn't keep it in his feathers so I'm left with the threat of freezer camp as the ultimate punishment. Rocky, the rooster in question, is not quite 6 months old and is REALLY sowing his wild oats among the older girls these days. His repeatability is impressive (4 hens in about 10 minutes this morning) but his technique leaves A LOT to be desired. He's very caveman like in his attentions. I keep pointing my finger at him and telling him he needs to learn some manners or else. He just gives me the stink eye and walks away. I wouldn't really hurt him...he's too beautiful...but what else are you gonna do?
