What treat did your chickies get today?

Yesterday mine got the remains of tomatoes and onions from the spaghetti sauce that I canned. Today they got grass clumps that my son and I pulled-- a couple were complete with roots and worms !!!

The older chickens got frozen applesauce/oatmeal cookies. In the brooder, the 10-day-olds played tear-the-giant-cockroach-to-pieces. It took them a while, but they ate the entire thing!

Gave the 2 week olds the corn husk to pick at. To start with one jumped on it and tried to perch on it which sent it flying across the brooder. It panicked and spooked the others! XD Once they got over it they loved it!

Smashed acorns!!! There are acorns ALL over the backyard, where they live, and the trucks/tractors run over them *the acorns, not the chickens*. Can chickens OD on acorns!?

On a side note, they're getting all the layer pellets they can eat. Bag had a hole in it, so there's layer feed all over the yard, too. It's not going to waste, though.

And in the brooder, the 12-day-olds continue their cockroach-a-rama! Also, they'll eat the camel crickets that get into the brooder.

Today they dined on Sweet potato fries that got a little too burnt, tomato core, onion ends, and cantaloupe rinds and seeds. They really seemed to like the fries!
