What treat did your chickies get today?

Whole pumpkin from my garden, they love the seeds too. We just drop it on the ground so it cracks open.

I normally cut the pumpkins Connecticut garden type)in half or quarter, depends on the size and place them in the run to keep my chickens entertained for hours.

I have my chickens one out of my garden. Another chicken keeper I know had told me that the insides of a pumpkin are a natural dewormer. I wonder if there is any merit to that!

Cucumbers, and they'll get some scratch in the early evening since the nights are getting colder.

Yesterday morning my girls got oatmeal with cranberries and mealworms. In the afternoon I gave them the guts of a butternut squash. While they ate it, but it wasn't what I would call a big hit. Their first go 'round with pumpkins was fun, but since then they haven't shown much interest. Sigh.

I shot a squirrel in my backyard and butchered it for my chickens, they loved it! They also got an acorn squash and seemed to like it too
