What type of feed do you provide your chickens?

They have unlimited access to Layers pellets in the coop. They also get a small amount of scratch grains or mixed bird seed scattered on the ground twice a day. I let them out to free range 2 hours before sunset daily, weather permitting. I also provide oyster shells in a separate container, and granite grit in another container.

Fruits, veggies, some meats, small amounts of bread/pasta but not much.

What do you use as their animal protein source?

I am dealing with quail. Adults have flip flopped from dry crumbles to fermented crumbles over the past year as my lazyness as gone up and down. Babies are on fermented crumbles. All are free feed/essentially eat as much as they want.
