The people who were living in this house before we got here I have no idea what they were thinking, they spray painted the kitchen cabinets with this ugly dark blue they also got some on the ceiling ( which I still have to cover ) they also painted some of the wall under the cabinets .. this is NOT a nice color to have to live with so I have repainted them, I think I am going to repaint the hinges also the same dark dark color to match the handles they have this very cool " barn door " style look to them.

When we were looking at houses, we looked at one that had fuschia colored walls in every room. We practically ran out of there.

You did are really nice job, turned your kitchen into a homier and definitely cleaner looking place. And I like the open cupboards too.

Wow, that is quite blue!

The people who used to live in my house took down all the molding and used contact paper to cover the cabinet doors.

Ps...the white is much nicer and I like the looks of the open cabinets.

possibly their kids crayoned on the cabinet doors, they couldn't get it off, and the dark blue was the only thing that would cover it up ?

actually I like the "open cabinet" look, decorative ... and you get to highlight your interesting collection

(who wondered about the people who painted a bedroom lime/chartreuse green, until they told me their daughter let her lizards run free in her room, and she thought "grass color" would make them feel at home ! )

musta been a bachelor cave, thats what i woulda done, blue or something like that, its a guy thing

Nice job on the cabinets. Looks like a whole different place.

People always do what seems reasonable to them at the time. Like my mom once put up a big photographic mural down the upstairs hallway. And wallpapered the bathroom in metallic butterflies...

Believe living with that blue was very painful to deal with LOL I did not want to have ANY company over until they got painted - actually I did not even want to cook in there !! we knew getting this place it was a " fixer upper " but wow that was awful to deal with LOL
it took two coats of the beige to cover the blue and I used Dutch Boy brand - next project I am going to retile the kitchen floor I will take before and after shots.

thanks for the great replies - makes me feel like I know what I am doing LOL

Great job repainting. Remember primer...it'll help the colors not bleed thru. Painting the hinges to match the handles would look great. Good luck on the floor!! Can't believe what some people do and call it home lol
