This isn't about a predator; it's about a birdseed eating monster and I can't figure out what it could be. This morning the whole hanging bird feeder was on the ground and totally empty. Other times, "it" reached the feeder and managed to tip it so all the seeds fell out, upon which, it ate them all (about 4 cups worth)!! My husband says he has seen it and here's how he describes it. It's the color of a fox, has a long bushy tail, is bigger than a squirrel - maybe about the size of a large cat. He says it's not a skunk or a raccoon or a squirrel. What furry beast would want to eat bird seed and what could it be? Any ideas?

I thought of a fisher cat but I didn't think they lived this far south! hmmm I'll have to do some searching online. Hope they don't live around here - I've heard nothing but bad stories about them! Thanks for your guesses. As they say, your guess is as good as mine! [IMG]

I wouldn't have thought a fisher cat would eat seeds. Aren't they carnivores?

fishers will eat anything they can get ahold of

just thought of something, if it's fox colored, sure it's not a fox????, they'll eat seeds, it could be a grey fox, they're good a climbing

Look for old soda cans and pizza crusts among the ruin. If you find any of that, English Chick is right.
