What Will Babette Lay Today?!

Poor Lucille...always being compared to her sister...it's always Babette, Babette, Babette...lol

It's okay Lucille, there is something very comforting about predictable. And we all love a good brown egg!

Haha I always think of it as the opposite...poor Babette! Her sister Lucille always is so dependable laying such beautiful perfect brown eggs every day, while silly little Babette can't settle down and be serious to lay such lovely eggs. She's clearly the little sister, haha!

I didn't have a chance to post yesterday but I took pics! I found a good xl sized egg in the nests next to Lucille's pretty brown medium egg yesterday.

..and my first thought was..."Hmmm, maybe her eggs are finally starting to normalize!" Nope.

The backside of the egg looked like this:

And today we have two pretty and normal looking eggs, nestled together in the left nesting box. I can tell Babette's is the one on the right because it's a little more pink and it has a bit of a wonky shape to it!

Dare I say? I think Babette is starting to normalize! We got this sweet one from her today:

Of course, that probably just means she's going to lay a blue egg tomorrow!

Two more eggs over the last two days from her....they're still each a little different but from a distance look like the same hen could have layed them! Haha

Nothing too special today.....which is weird, haha. No speckles of any colour! Babette's of course is the giant one on the left, weighing in at a respectable 69g.

Are the white spots slightly raised? If so they are probably extra calcium deposits. One of my hens in particular will lay eggs with extra calcium on the shell occasionally. She’s done it less as she’s gotten older, though.
