What Will Babette Lay Today?!

Yup...I think we're definitely running out of ink! This is what Babette graced me with today:

I love this thread! You have some fun girls!!
One of my gals normally lays a nice pinkish brown egg, always uniform shape & color, and last week they suddenly changed color, turning from a pretty pink brown to a light tan. It was so strange and I was really sad about loosing my pinkish eggs! I knew it was the same girl because I saw her lay, and the eggs were still the precise same shape. Even stranger, she laid four, maybe five, of the tan color eggs and then promptly went back to laying the pretty pinkish brown that she’s always laid. No idea why!!
So that’s my strange egg story.

Okay, I can't resist!!!!
Sherbet at the front, Leaf to the left. Also Nim to the right and Mini at the back. View attachment 1496892 (PS these are only half my girls)
I think Leaf looks like Lucilla and Sherbet looks like Babette from the pic of when they were smaller.

What breeds are ur others and how many do you have? I am just curious.
They do look so much alike! The only difference is that my Babette has a much shorter, puffy tail. Don't you just love their pretty white necklaces?

I have 21 chickens, just recently down from 26. My flock is comprised of the sisters and their rooster who is a Mille Fleur D'uccle all of whom are 19 weeks now. I originally had five more with this group but they all turned out to be cockerels - a gorgeous Golden Sebright, a Buff Cochin, a bantam Black Cochin and two unknown big boys who were erroneously sold as Welsummers.

My teens are 14 weeks old now and include two lemon blue Easter Eggers (one has a darker lavender head and the other is more grey), a White Crested Black Polish hen and a Splash Polish cockerel, and two Silkies - the white is a pullet and I think the buff one is a cockerel but it's hard to tell still. My babies are 10 weeks old and all pullets. I have a very abnormal dark black and brown Salmon Faverolles, a Golden Campine, a Gold Brabanter, a Welsummer, a Silver Laced Wyandotte, a Cuckoo Maran, a Barnevelder, a Spangled Russian Orloff, a White Laced Red Cornish, a Norwegian Jaerhon, and two Easter Eggers - one black and one golden and black.

Wow, that is really strange! I wonder if it was because of the heat? I also came across this article...it's weird though, because in my case at least, I have her sister as a control group, hahaha...so no idea why she is laying such strange eggs! Glad you got your pretty ones back though!

Watching!!!!!!!!!! I have a golden comet and hope to get beautiful eggs like you!!!! :wee
What's funny is that I didn't really want the two Golden Comets at first because I wanted unique and different chickens who would lay beautiful eggs but as it turns out that they lay GORGEOUS eggs! I am sure you'll love your girls' eggs too!
