What would be a good baby gift for an Amish?

It's my understanding that some orders of Amish have embraced technology ONLY for the purpose of their businesses. The technology stays at work and never enters the home, some even have special outdoor cabinets for their cell phones!

So if he's using more modern technology to accomplish tasks for your father, don't assume that it's a sign that he is part of an order of Amish that embraces technology at home as well (or that they're mennonite instead.)

I was doing a search and someone suggested books. That would be a different idea. Also a fruit basket would be nice for a family gift as well.

Gift cards are a good idea. Around here, they do shop at Walmart and Meijers -- both old order and new order. The teenage Amish girl who butchers my chickens is of the old order and she and her mom enjoy a trip to town to shop at some of the more mainstream chain stores like Walmart. Maybe ask and see where she likes to shop. Maybe even a gift certificate to the local Amish general store. Prepared meals, cloth diapers, and anything very neutral (not flashy, no designs if buying blankets, burp cloths, etc) and practical would be appreciated.

This will be the couples first baby. They just got married I think in January. They both come from familes of about 14 children. From what I know they can use gas to power their saws which he did purchase a saw table. They can't drive cars but can take a bus or get a ride if it is to long of a distance for a buggy or for emergencies. The men seem to wear the dark navy blues for their jeans and coats along with a medium shade of blue shirt. The women seem to wear the dark blues and purples. I do occasionaly see them buy stuff at yard sales like mattresses and some baby items. I have seen a family down the road use one of those red radio flyer wagons when the baby got bigger they sat the baby in it while doing the garden.
