What would make a Rooster Crow at Night?

Thanks everyone. So glad it isn't anything to stress about, especially because he was going at it again tonight. At least it is pretty quiet from inside the coop...

We recently got two new birds, the cockeral seemed pretty quiet and the guy we bought him off said he rarely made a sound and if he did it was afternoon. I think he found his voice! My son tells me he started crowing at 3.30am this morning from inside the coop. Sadly i don't live in the middle of nowhere lol. I bought him on a whim tbh, hes a lovely silkie and looks like one of those lead singers from a dodgy 70's rock band and id hate to give him up.

My roo crows after dark anytime he hears something out of place. I have a group that comes to the house on Monday nights and as soon as they start out the door he 'goes off'. He'll crow until the yard gets quiet again. He'll do the same thing in the mornings when I head out to my car. It's about 2hrs before dawn but he'll crow as soon as I step out and speak to the dogs. Funny enough, he doesn't crow when I let the dogs out at about 4:30 - but he hears/sees them all day long coming out the door and racing around the yard so maybe he doesn't recognize that as 'something to crow about'. LOL

same happened to me at around 03:30am last night I heard the rooster clucking in the shed. It couldn't of been a noise as the coop is enclosed by a shed, totally filled with air holes just for the smell and for the moisture, but I leave the coop open in the night and they're free to roam around at night but they chose not to. Please tell me why he does this?

My mother.

Last night, about an hour or more after dark and after the chickens had been peacefully roosting the rooster started crowing inside the coop. I went and checked on them and they were all just sitting quietly and there didn't seem to be any obvious disturbance and no predators or other animals in the (secure) run...

Any ideas on what would make the rooster crow at night in the coop like that? Is it just one of those random chicken things?
