Ditto - Oscars rock, fun personalities.

Oscars are the best cichlids ever

Oscars are fun to catch, and taste great! Slimy little buggers though. Living in one big exotic plant and animal test laboratory known as Florida has some advantages.

so there are Oscars in FL? I heard that alot of people let their Oscars go because they get too big (and they do get big) for their tank

You can find oscars all over S. Florida along with Myan Cichlids, Peacock Bass, and a plethora of others. The Peacocks are the only ones that were introduced on purpose. For some info and a complete list of exotics try http://floridafisheries.com/offices/boca.html During the dry season, you can catch hundreds of myans and oscars a day

I'd be torn between 3 different set-ups:

1) Saltwater reef...We have a 38g (restarted it in August with a pair of captive bred/tank raised True Perculas, 3 Blue-legged crabs and several soft coral frags) at this time that we want to move into a 75g eventually.

2) A Discus biotope

3) African Cichlids

I have a question for those of you into salt...do any of you know what this is...I'm thinking some type of small Starfish but not having much luck researching it. (Clickable thumbnails)

I have a 135 gal tank set up with Parrot Fish, Upside Down Cat Convicts and a few gold fish.

I also have a 350 gal acrylic set up with Red Ear, Green Eared and a Map Turtle and a few goldfish in there for movement and color..
