Most Clever Names Ever! Love it.

re the frostbit comb. I think if it is too severe it will fall off and never grow back

there are several threads with information about it on BYC. I have a Leghorn roo with a massive comb so I read up on it last fall. Mine has a touch of frostbite, but I worry more about his wattles that get soaked when he drinks. Not a smart choice of breed for Missouri - he'll find a new home this year so I don't have to worry about it any more.

I've never had any get frostbite any worse than just the tips so I'm not really experienced on the subject. I just do the neosporin thing and rub it in good. I don't know if it does any good but the tips never fell off or got worse. My black orp got it too just on the tips and this summer his comb was a beautiful red with no sign of damage.

How adorable is this?

I heard crowing in the grow pen and didn't know which one it was. Just as I walked in the house I heard the crow again so I know which one it is now but I brought her in anyway in case they both where crowing. I'm nearly positive this is a pullet. I put her in the pen in the carport room with the ladies that are on vacation growing their feathers back from a summer of breeding. And Pricilla the hen at the top of the pecking order decided she was going to show her who is boss. And Moe the sweet one came up to her to welcome her to the vacation area.

Beautiful! Love your chickens , Marie! For those shipping eggs, remember PO closed on Monday. I will start listing auctions soon to ship on Tuesday. Deb oh , ps I went shopping for swap items today, so I will be adding more chicken items to my page.

It's gonna be hard to sell this one. I have a buyer for her. He may have to pry my fingers off her when the time comes. But I also broke down and put sizzle eggs in the bator so who knows what I may get. I have some of Goldie and Noel's eggs this time. Noel is this little pullets mother.

Had to do a rescue last night, 1 of my first cochin eggs that had a big pip about the size of my thumb got shrink wrapped, everyone else had hatched that had pipped and I could see him in his shell still moving and he had been like that for almost 48 hours, so I took a bobby pin and broke him away from the shell but half of his body was like glued where he couldn't move and his eyes were sealed shut so DH and I filled up the the sink with warm water and put him in it and gently took a wash cloth and dabbed his eyes till he could open them them got his wing unglued by submerging his body in the warm water and gently massaging his little body. We got all the goop off him and put him back in the bator to dry and he slowly started walking around and building up his strength and this morning he was so alert! I had planned on selling all the cochins I hatched and was only going to keep my silkies but I'm going to keep this little guy, he's a miracle!! I was so happy so see him chirping at me this morning!!!
