What young adults think is right.

Thanking God for everything and particularly for a personal victory makes perfect sense to me. Without Him we would have nothing, be nothing. I thank God when I arise and when I go to bed and every moment I think about it during my day.

I don't follow sports and this is the first I've even heard of this man..but if he is intelligent enough to understand that he his strength, talent and very life comes from God, then he seems a great role model to me. That more boys would want to emulate someone of faith and intelligence...

Seriously?

How would it come off if I said, in reference to the late Pat Tillman, "I don't follow sports and this is the first I've even heard of this man...but if he is intelligent enough to understand that his strength, talent and very life comes from within himself, not from any God, then he seems a great role model to me. That more boys would want to emulate someone of atheist convictions and intelligence...

"?

If you can get away with it, then in fairness, so should I.

Well, I'd say you could say anything you wish or believe anything you wish, as is your right. It's called free will. Why in the world would it matter to me what you said?

Because equating "intelligence" with someone because he shares your religious belief is implying that there is a "lack of intelligence" for those who don't. And....that's kinda, well, against forum rules.

Calling someone intelligent is against the forum rules.... I'll keep that in mind and not make THAT mistake again!

Thanks for your help in clearing that up!

I agree, intelligence and religious beliefs (or lack thereof) are not related. There are intelligent people in both categories. Intelligence is a tool, it can be used for good or evil, by people of all belief systems. Christians are not exempt from the "using it for evil" category, sadly, it is one of the reasons that some people don't believe in Christianity. The message is good, the messengers are sometimes pretty messed up.
