In some cultures, white is the color of mourning. A duck "dressed in white" would be dressed in the color of mourning and thus, it would be bad luck. Perhaps bring death with it into your home.

I do love the blacks, but the lighter birds do dress out cleaner. There is just something about a nice, shiny, black duck with bright red caruncle. I find them very attractive.
