Whats that bump on the tail feather! they tend to clean it............

I just discovered these glands on my chickens a few days ago and my husband and I thought they might be some kind of G-spot thing for the rooster to stimulate the hens for breeding. LOL So don't feel bad thinking it was a tick. At first I did too until I saw that more than one of my hens had one. LOL

Is this the oil gland ... I've never seen it before and it's really big :/ he is 10 days old and a runner duck

Is this an oil.gland or is there a bigger problem going on with my little ducklings???
