whats the most annoying response you get when people find out you have chickens?

Too eggy!?!? Store bought eggs remind me of skim milk, they kinda taste like water with coloring. My hens are my pets also, just like my dogs are. My girls free range and go in their coop at night. I have 1 girl who waits at the back door for me, I carry her to the coop and tuck her in bed. I had someone argue with me that chickens don't have personalities and he couldn't believe the one waits for me to carry her, until he saw it for his own eyes. The sad thing is he has chickens too!
I completely understand. My first day, my two rsl girls, Reba and Donna(formerly known as big red) were sooo comforting. It's like they knew that I was nervous and put their own nervousness aside! They would come up the the end of their run and softly coo at me. It was weird and crazy! Kinda like two sweet and wise old dogs! They're so comfortable, that they've both been laying since day two. People said that its because they're stupid and don't know any better. But BYCers know the truth!

Some people show their chickens. It's just like a horse show or dog show...but with chickens :) It's a chance to show all your hard work and others get to see your beautiful chickens.

That's right! It's great!

whaaaaaaaaat?!?! That sounds awesome!! How do I find out if there are any around my town? This obsession just keeps getting better and better

There is a website called poultry show central.com that has many show dates. You can also talk to other poultry people around your area and find out about shows! Good Luck!

Woohoo! Another poultry show-er! What breeds do you raise?
well I plan on attending first since my gals are all likely barnyard mixes. Lol but so far I have two adult rsl hens two barred rock pullets and a mysterious white chicken. Only the rsl gals are laying.

Good idea. If you are considering getting into poultry showing, attending a show and then getting some purebred birds from a breeder are the first steps!

They really are sweet little things, aren't they?

I always get wow I never thought their was chickens that pretty what are those? WHAT GAMEFOWL ARE THOSE THEM FIGHTING CHICKENS THEY DONT ATTACK YOU? No they're very decile. U don't fight them huh? No just a hobby. It's like if I have games I must be fighting them like I have 3 pitbulls so I must be fighting them too. I don't really like the stereotype but I love my fowl and wouldn't trade them for anything.

I know exactly how you feel! I have Standard size Modern Games and a lot of people ask if they are fighting birds. OF COURSE NOT!

In fact, my Modern bantams are my tamest birds. I love my Moderns, and that is the worst thing that I could imagine happening to them.
