Whats the STORY behind your interesting CHICKEN NAMES?

We had two silkie chicks that turned out to be boys. The big one was always aggressive and a bully, so he got named Biff (from Back to the Future). The smaller one is a sweatheart. He was always rushing to put the bully in his place, so we named him Marty. Biff finally attacked a pullet to many times and had to go.

This is Satan. I name my birds based on either the breed names or distinguishing characteristics. I named him Satan because he kinda looks like satan lol. Then I have 1 polish hen (Hattie because she is a polish lol), 1 salmon favorelle hen (Salmon), 1 jersey giant hen (Mary, cause she is black and I am a fan of Mary Shelley...so black= Frankenstein...makes sense to me anyways lol), 1 japenese/auracauna mix hen (Jappy)

My Spitzhauben cock is called Fritz, the Spitz. One of his hens is named Dotty for obvious reasons. His other hen is named Dolly because of a book I had as a child about two girls named Dotty and Dolly. My Brabanter hens have rather wild topknots. I named them Flopsy and Mopsy. The third hen HAD to be named Cottontail, of course.

Scruffy was instantly scruffy from...

Samantha used to be called Scruffyneck, until the day half of them died, and I came up with new names.

Georgia is called that because of one of my freinds.

Gracie is called so because of her gracefulness, like flying or running.

I have a Blue Deleware mix that I call turkey. She is a young pullet. I am unsure of her accual age because I got her from the amish. And of course he had no idea. But she is the youngest of the chickens that I have out in the big girl pen but she is also the biggest one. I told my wife she has to be part turkey. so the name just stuck..

Our New Hampshire (Red) is named Edith, after my grandmother.
Our Black Australorp is named Aretha because we're both fans of Aretha Franklin.
Our EE is named Theodora cuz she looked like a little chipmunk when she was a baby and Alvin, Simon, Theodore....


Not super original or interesting, but there they are. I also like that their initials spell E-A-T or A-T-E depending on how you arrange them.

I got 3 EE chicks(not quite pullets) for my birthday which falls the day after Hallowe'en, but I got them a few days early.
One black, one creamy and one red/grey mix.
So ... in keeping with the season they are named Spook, Hallo and we'enie.

I had two monster "SUMO WRESTLER" hens that I called Godzilla and Mothra ... but due to their mean bully ways they eventually went to freezer camp.

My Splash Orpington pullet is named Raptor. Here it goes...
Her first name was Jubilee because I was hoping she was a girl, then she was Seagull because her "cheep" wasn't a "cheep" at all, it was more of a "schreeech!" kinda like a seagull. Next she was Hawk, because I though she was a cockerel and she sounded more like a hawk than a seagull. And then she finally was Raptor, because I concluded she was a girl but she sounded like a small dinosaur! And that is the story of how Raptor the dino, seagull, hawk, chicken got her name
