What's the temperature where you are???

Don't get too comfortable where you are ..... During my high school years way back when smudge pots were used to protect citrus in the winter from hard freezes I spent a night firing those evil beasts when the temp was 17°.... That was in Hardee County

Right now it's 36° here but feels like 39°
i still see those things in a couple of old groves. Not that they use them, just never got removed.

Here, fruit tree (peach, pear, apple) plantations use huge fans in the Spring, to prevent blossoms from being killed by frost; last spring I lost all the fruit blossoms and buds when I had a night of -7C. The frost also killed the leaves on the trees - surprisingly the trees put out new leaves! But not new fruit blossoms.

That was a fad once in citrus groves that didn't last. I didn't mind climbing up onto the platform models to service the engines but those single engine models on a pole where you had to turn lose while leaning against the pole and try to toss your safety belt around and catch it with your other hand was a nightmare. I will never miss that job on a cold morning like it is today.

Right now it is 46° and feels like 48° with a howling wind.
