Before that there was a strong thaw, so much so that even the snow melted (in these places it usually doesn't melt before spring). And then frosts began. Fortunately, snow managed to fall, though not very much. It's just that a strong frost without snow is bad for wintering plants.
The farmers have some problems with lack of snow to protect hay fields and winter wheat.

This year we have about 3’ of snow in the fields - plenty of protection for over wintering plants.

The only good thing for the snow for me is the fact it is protecting the roots of my fruit trees (peach, pears, plums, apple).

Currently at 06:44

-14C (6F) and clear. Going to be a high of -6C, and flurries.
