We hit zero!!

The snow is cold, the air is cold, my chickens are cold, my wild birds are threatening me today for free bird seed....and my DUX is not healthy, so I placed him in a warm place for 2.5 hours...

My eggs were frozen...Life is not good on the tundra. I doubt we as a people can survive the coming global winter....

31 degrees in the south

17ºF (-8C) at 6 pm. This morning had started at 0ºF. I kept going out to collect eggs to keep them from freezing, but always there was a hen in The Nest. Everyone apparently wanted that one nest today. Each time I went out, yet another hen was in it. At 3 pm, finally, the nest was vacated, and I found 5 warm eggs in it...we had eggs for supper.

I don't remember checking in yesterday.

I got 7 yesterday and 5 today.

The good news is my 4 year old Brahmas are laying. The bad news is several of my Australorp are still slacking.
