What's the temperature where you are???

WOW!!!! I haven't seen a firefly since I was a kid. They're gone from this area, completely gone.
That's so sad! They're still pretty prevalent around here, although not as many as I remember, as a kid. My bestie has a massive tree in her yard that draws them every night. We have "Firefly Vigils" during their busiest time, where the tree - all 60 feet of it - is lit up like a Christmas tree. I've tried to get pictures, but they don't even come close to doing it justice!
On the other side of that coin, we've almost lost honeybees, here. There is a really strong effort to save them and we're starting to see a few more. I actually called my (farmer) sister this morning to tell her that I had to watch where I stepped this morning to avoid getting stung, like we used to have to do when we were kids. I remember hot summer days when there were so many around that you could actually hear the hum when you stepped outside. I keep my back yard full of white clover, just for the bees. It stays just as green as sown grass seed, and actually takes less to keep mown - it doesn't grow as high. As an added bonus, I can grab handfuls on my way to the coop - and my birds LOVE it!

EDIT to ADD: At 3pm today, it's beautiful, here. Temps hover at about 70, with clear skies, a light breeze and MUCH lower humidity, today. Last night's storm worked wonders!

We have tons of bees. Honey bees and bumble bees are staples of our garden. -no shortage of pollinators. (and the cicadas are crazy! I bet there is around 30-40 "singing" in the trees out back right now) No fireflies. That is definitely a favorite memory of my childhood that my children didn't get to see.
