Torrential rain from ex-Tropical Cyclone Kirrily will cause Warragamba Dam to spill during the coming days after bringing the heaviest rain in decades to north-west NSW on Monday.

The tropical deluge has triggered flood watches and warnings from the western outback to the slopes and ranges, and continues one of the warmest and wettest summers on record for parts of the state.
