As wildfires continue to burn from northwest Ontario to British Columbia, Canada is getting help from near and far, and very far.

Southern Highlands – New South Wales Rural Fire Service in Australia says a 96-personnel-strong Australian contingent of firefighters and specialists have deployed to Canada for five weeks.

The service says the deployment is in response to a request from the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says in a tweet that, “When our mates need help, Australia is there.”

And we thank you from all our hearts

My son and daughter in law paid for me and her mother and my grandson 4 and my granddaughter 2 was free.

and daughter in law’s cousin and his family went also.

There were 11 of us total.

My last trip was in sep’2012 and before that was in aug’2002

This year makes the 50th anniversary from the first time I went with my family in the summer of 1975 when I was 14

We loved it so much it was our family vacation twice a year

Back when it was affordable

And I went many times by my self or with someone other than family

This was at least my 50 trip that I can specifically remember possibly more that I have forgotten about.

Most of my own trips by myself were Friday drive there. Saturday magic kingdom. Sunday drive home.

At least 50 trips...that is good memories. You got your vacation all planed out. Magic Kingdom, being there is magical already

We had a bit of a family winter time on long weekend away for a number of years, probably less than 10 years of it and I love it. Those are treasured moment.

I always find it interesting to see how people deal with heat or cold weather. Thanks for sharing.

My house is an old house so no central heating. But the new houses these days have it.

Now 12C=84F inside my house, sky is blue, sunshine and wind.

Wow what lovely memories! My family used to always get together for Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving, but now all the youngsters are grown with families of their own. I rarely even see my own nieces - sad really.

It was a cool dry windy sunny day today, the high was 18C which I well below the normal temperature it should be.

It sure has been a crazy year - here in the East it’s been cool and wet, in the west hot and dry.

Currently it’s 17C with a forecast low of 7C - brrr! I think I’ll close the horses’ windows in their stalls, and the chooks windows - that wind is cold!
