I kept some of dads old cheque books with the carbon to show / teach my grandkids. I used to love that stuff as a kid. Magic!

I know right?! and the black would get all over your hands and clothes if not careful :)

Happy Christmas everyone (and Happy Boxing Day to those that are not into 'tomorrow'). Current temp is +1C, forecast high is 0C (32F) which we have surpassed.

Temps are supposed to drop like a rock today with cold windchills today; overnight forecast is for -14C (7F) and winter storm on the way for tomorrow.

Everyone have a wonderful day/evening/night - be safe and enjoy the holiday season.

(not to worry she didn't eat light - it's a fine wire with LED lights that I tucked under her fluffy feathers - not sure how it would look on a regular feathered chook, but on Silkies it's pretty)

That's awesome! Is there a program you use for this? or.... did you really dress him up? Eitherway it's awesome!

Merry Christmas Lester!
ChatGPT.

I just told it to dress the chicken up in Christmas clothes, inserted Lester, and 30 seconds later, I got this. Isn't AI wonderful? I'm having so much fun with it!

Last year when I saw your silkie lit up, I thought of trying that as that's so pretty too, and real!

A few recent Christmas season shopping observations have me curious. Last year and this year my local supermarket has not put up a single Christmas decoration. Even the seasonal fare of candy canes, shortbread + cards, wrapping paper etc are seemingly hidden behind other everyday displays which are being used to create a small and narrow aisle that barely accommadates 3 ppl comfortably. No chance of getting a trolly through there, and it's right by a management staff office and staff are hanging around the doorway discussing whatever it is, making it more difficult to access the already cramped space. I'm there late, after I walk the dogs, but by 8.30p.m. last nite all the Christmas stuff was gone. I mean totally emptied out, and i don't believe it was shoppers. There was a corner bay area, usually reserved for flowers, completely void of all the Cadbury Favorites etc that had been there the day before. Even the stands were gone!

In 2023 the place had been filled with beautifully wrapped boxes placed on all the shelves. You knew it was Christmas.

edit: not a single staff member, mostly young ppl, have not added any seasonal flare to their wardrobe, nor have they extended any Christmas Greetings to shoppers.
Oh My Gosh - !!!

I was just commenting on this with my Mum last night.

Not one person (stranger) was the least bit festive and no one was smiling and wishing everyone Merry Christmas. There was also hardly ANY Christmas decorations around in the Stores (Walmart - you need to get you game on for next year!).

Everyone was just minding their business, going about their day, getting it 'done and over with' to get out of the store as fast as possible it seemed.

I have my own theories on this but guess it's a sign of the times.

Having said this I personally want to wish everyone a wonderfully splendid Christmas/Holiday Season, and lets all hope 2026 is a lovely year with no trials and tribulations, and may everyone's flocks thrive.

Curly my Frizzle Silkie also looks great in lights
