What's the temperature where you are???

56°F and clear with 21% humidity at 7:00 P.M. Chicken delights today were blueberries and tuna.

Has been locked in at 27F past 2 hrs. Mom Nature baited me last week with temps in the mid to high 50s. Back to reality with my least favorite weather month (February) coming up. My to do plans are now on the back burner.
I hate February because it means March is next and it was 90F (32C) last March and there is still so much to do and I am NOT READY!!

I meant to ask, how do you keep your chooks in the winter? We all have different housing but those us who live in winter climates have as great a challenge as those who live in hot humid summer climates. Extremes anywhere are tough on livestock that are not native.

Having outside animals sure has its challenges, yeah. There have been a few times I've considered simply not having any...

Basically, I try to choose hardy breeds, have as few winter animals as possible, keep them all together in large insulated houses and runs covered both for snow and wind, and let them adapt and get used to the weather. I shut them in at a certain temp, and depending on how long the cold will last, heat their coops. What about you?

Temp today: 20F and stormy.
