What's the temperature where you are???

It’s treacherous walking in the yard today - combination of ice with water on top, still some bumpy, uneven ground fromchunks of icy snow, and puddles of mud - thank God for boots with cleats! How are you doing with this @MROO ?

Yesterday was dangerous! We had a situation similar to yours, with pools of water caught on top of ice sheets collapsed into snow. Yep, it's confusing, but that's what we had pretty much everywhere. last night's rain and today's highs (near 50) with a "warm" rain, made all the difference in the world! Today, I can see curbs and grass (errr ... MUD!) Most of the sheeted ice/snow has collapsed into disconnected islands about 4" tall. The bigger piles left by shovels and snowplows are still tall and threatening to topple. We carefully groomed a couple yesterday afternoon to keep them from falling over on us. So far, so good.
Then there's my back yard, y'know, where the coop and run sit. It's fully shaded and protected by outbuildings and solid fencing, so it's still a treacherous mess. The only real differences there are the height of the snow cover (down to about 6") and the width of the disgustingly muddy path to the coop and the main garage.
Big Dog is not happy. He's been happily able to trot across the snow for weeks now. Yesterday, he fell through with every. single. step. I swear he evil-eyed me over it. The glare he gave when he turned to look at me was full of dark accusation, "What'd you do, Mom? I KNOW this is your fault!"
