whats the worst gift you have ever recieved?

Balfour Girl - I am interested in the socks. All my cotton socks are starting to wear out. I am pretty sensitive to wool. It REALLY makes me itch. I will not hug my DH if he is wearing a wool sweater. How are these socks in this department? Thanks!

Some of you are giving me complexes about the gifts I'm giving this year.

DBF and I can't afford much, so I'm making things, including a pair of socks for my dad.

Homemade gifts are better because you put more thought, time and love into them. If family doesn't like it then they can go without a gift and watch others enjoy thiers.
This Christmas I am making cookies, and putting together gift baskets with home made by me...apple butter, watermelon rind pickles, pickled peppers, watermelon jelly, mini loaves of quick breads...and if I have time beaded ornaments. I think I forgot something.

Ditto Silkie. I also like the pratical. One of my favs was a power scrubber to scrub the tile and showers. I love it and have now asked for two more for this christmas. To be fair thought my DH worries about getting these things for me for christmas and usually adds something really nice. I have gotten beautiful pearl necklaces for the last 6 christmases. I have different lengths and colors. I did ask that he forgo the pearls this year. I do only have one neck. LOL

oh oh I remember another git from my friends party...Toilet paper... the cheap scratchy kind. I "forgot it" when we left and should have TP'ed his house with it.

Personally I hate socks and try to get away without ever wearing them so I have never owned a pair myself, but my neighbour, a hiker, swears by them. She said that she wore one pair for an entire week of hiking with no smell or wetness (I said, ewwwwwwww) but I've felt them in the store and they're very fine, so may not be as itchy as a sweater.

The worst gift I ever received came from my parents when I was 13. I am the 2nd child in a family w/ 6 kids - my mom always did all the shopping. At that age, I was not into clothes at all, I loved being outside, reading books, horse crazy, wanted some pets of my own, etc.

For Christmas that year my mother got me a tee-shirt nightgown with ugly flowers on it and a set of 4 coffee mugs. I was crushed - didn't they know me at all???? I sat at her breakfast table every day of my life and have never drank anything out of a coffee mug at that age. That memory is still pretty painful and that was 18 years ago! Ever since that Christmas I gave my parents a list of what I wanted for Christmas or my birthday.

On a positive note, I married a man that is an excellent gift-giver. All my friends are extremely jealous.

A pearl bracelet would be nice - I've always secretly thought pearl bracelets are just lovely and I'm not a jewelry kinda gal at ALL (I don't even wear a wedding ring or watch!)

My first ex-husband, on Valentine's Day, gave me a card in Spanish, and a crushed box of candy, because it was the only card left at K-Mart and he found the candy hidden in the men's underwear section. He even told me that because he thought he got so lucky to find it. He also used to give me gold and diamonds, I don't wear gold, and I hate diamonds, I think they are cold, unfeeling stones with no warmth.

My second ex-husband gave me a box of chocolates that were filled with walnuts and coconut, both of which I'm allergic to.
Also I have a phobia: Chronomentrophobia- Fear of clocks, I don't wear watches, I don't have clocks where I can see them, I even have the time covered by tape in the corner of my monitor. My ex husband gave me 4 expensive watches while we were married and one for Christmas after we were divorced!

For a gag birthday gift my brother gave me a giant wooden aspirin that said For Birth Control: Keep Between Knees. I had gone to his house to tell him I was pregnant with Steven.

My cousin in Houston sent me His and Hers matching ID bracelets, the month after my divorce was final.

Right after I got married the second time, my best friend in Las Vegas sent my husband and I a ceramic photo frame, with my name and the name of the guy I dated BEFORE I married my ex.

I get so lucky in the gift arena.
