So I went out of town for a few days and when I got back I noticed that one of my pigeons, who I believe to be a female, had some bald patches on the top of her head, neck and upper chest area. Upon further inspection I saw that the skin there was red and somewhat irritated. I checked her for mites and other parasites and didn't find any. I also checked for any indication that she had been in a fight or had any other outward signs of an injury. She didn't. The only other thing I could think of was that she had been the victim of excessive mating, which is strange because she is currently sitting on eggs and she's normally pretty much celibate during this time. I'm at a loss as to what else to look for so I've attached some pictures to see if anyone out there can help me figure this out.
