I highly doubt a pig would be by 10 minutes after a coyote if it's lurking around the area.

Why? Feral hogs are more than a match for a coyote. They are always in groups,smart,and aggressive when threatened. In all my year's of hunting I have never seen evidence of coyote killing adult feral hogs. Wish they would as we are overrun with them here in texas.

How true, it's not uncommon for a hog hunter to lose his dog while hunting feral hogs. They are extremely dangerous. We have both here on the coast, hogs and coyotes.

I don't really see anything in the first picture ... What at first looks like a coyote (front legs and two eyes one over the top of each other???) the legs are in the second picture, and the "eyes" are missing ...

The second one is a piggy ... Ribs!

Would hogs pose a threat to chickens, then?

That's a hog, coyotes have fluffy tails and look completely different. Are there wild boar where you live? I'm too far North to have them, but I've seen them in the South. Pigs are omnivores and could very easily be a danger to your chickens. They are much stronger than most other predators!

Reasons I would not want feral hogs near my chickens:
They will eat the chicken feed, and any snacks you may put out for them
If there is not an easy source of water, they will take your chicken water
If they run across a hen or eggs, they'll eat them (although, I don't think they would attack and kill a chicken - they'd be happy to eat one if they found her)
I would NOT want to take the chance of running across one when I was visiting the coop (they are mean, fast, and stronger than me!)

Besides ... Have you ever heard the expression "hog tight fence"?

If their nose says "go" they usually do! They need a VERY STRONG Fence, or a bullet to keep them out of where they want to go!
