Digits appropriately crossed. About 30% of the eggs from my lone silky carrier are actually fertile, and I've only hatched one, but I have 3 cooking. She's in with 2 Silkied Roos, about a year old, but they aren't all that randy...so we wait. My one Silkied girl is still home being pampered until I feel she's truly hardy enough to be bred. She's only given me 3 eggs, so I only see one once in a while. I wait with bated breath...

Jeremy, that's sick but funny.

Fingers crossed for you Alice. I finally gave up on babying mine. They live or die now and I have 4 left.

It's frustrating because I only have a White Ameraucana roo to breed to my original girl and the color won't breed true with him. So IF one of the babies are a male and IF it lives--then I can move forward. If not then I will enjoy looking at her while she lives.

I set more eggs from the F1s about a week ago. So we shall see how that goes.

Has anyone hatched any silkieds in a colors other than splash and sort of a calico? I don't recall seeing any blues or blacks.

They are looking great. I can't wait to see them grown up.

Thank you!

They seem to die as soon as I switch from medicated starter to grow feed - as if they are unable to build a resistance.

Good news however - the Sulmet water has helped and I think they are recovering. Looks like I won't have to post dead baby chicken pictures for Jeremy.
